Brenda L. Stephens, M.Ed.
Brenda L. Stephens was born and raised in Dover, Ohio, and as such desires educational change for Tuscarawas County. She has spent the last 12 years out-of-state, gaining education and experience, and has since moved back to Dover to form The Rosencroit Foundation. Her dream is to give the gift of education to as many people as she can. To accomplish this, she is working with the community to bring tutoring, instruction, and mentoring programs to the residents of Dover.
Miss Stephens attended Dover Avenue Elementary School for kindergarten before she transferred to St. Joseph's Elementary School, where she studied 1st to 7th grade. She then attended Dover Middle School for 8th grade and continued her studies at Dover High School, graduating in 1993. During her childhood, she was active in dance, baton twirling, gymnastics, and cheerleading.
Since leaving Ohio, she has earned a Bachelors in Art History (summa cum laude) with an emphasis in Greco-Roman Art at The University of New Mexico and a Masters in Education in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in ESL from Concordia University-Portland. With this education, she has tutored and taught students of all ages in art history, English, and ESL. For the past 9 years, she has been working tirelessly in the higher-education field and is currently an Adjunct in the Modern Languages Department at Columbus State Community College, teaching advanced ESL classes in college composition and public speaking. Previous to CSCC, she has had the privilege of teaching in Los Angeles, California, at such institutions as California State University and The New York Film Academy-Burbank.
At the moment, Miss Stephens is working toward a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with an emphasis in ESL from Northcentral University. After graduation (pending 2019), she plans to return to college in order to earn a second Masters degree, this time in English. Although she has focused on higher-education, she believes that K-12 education is equally as important. Thus, she is undergoing the process of obtaining an Ohio English and ESL teaching license.
Miss Stephens is single, owns a cat named Kira Nezumi, is an abstract artist and avid lover of ancient literature, and attends St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dover.
